Bu proje Tarlabaşı’nın sıkışık sokakları arasında gökyüzüne ulaşmaya çalışan “Kuş Yuvası”nın bir anı defteridir. Hikâye yıllardır burada yaşayan ve yuvanın da yaşamasını sağlayan Örtücü Eşref’in daktilosuyla yazdığı anılar üzerinden anlatılmaktadır. Proje hava koşullarıyla birlikte var olabilecek ve çalışacak bir yaşam birimi düşüncesi üzerine kurulmuştur. Bu noktada hava ile yaşayan canlılar olan kuşların mekânsal bilgileri ve insanlarla kuşlar arasındaki ilişki yeniden yorumlanmıştır. Kuşlar ve insanlar yok olmaya yüz tutmuş eski kuşçuluk geleneğinin yeniden canlandığı Yuva’yı inşa etmişlerdir. Kuşların mekanları örerek üretme tekniği kullanılarak, uzun kazıklar arasında uzayan eğri kirişler ile önce taşıyıcı sonrasında da bunlar arasına gerekli alanlar daha ince örülerek inşa edilmiştir. Böylece yapı doğal verilere göre şekillenir. Suyun akış yönüne göre eğimlenir, yağmur sularının Yuva’nın altındaki havuzlara dolmasını sağlar. Sonra bu suları terasa taşıyıp kuşları çekecek bitkileri besler. Etkinlik alanlarını kuytuda bırakacak şekilde rüzgârı içinden geçirir. Suya uyarak aşağı akarken aynı zamanda güneşe ve kuşlara dokunmak için de yükseklere çıkar. Yağmur yuvayı, yuva kuşları, kuşlar kaşifleri, kaşifler de arşivi beslerler. Bu sayede yağmur ile çalışan bir Yuva tam olarak inşa olmuş olur.
This project is a journal of “The Nest” trying to reach the sky among the cramped streets of Tarlabaşı. The story is told through the memories written with the typewriter of Örtücü Eşref, who has lived here for years and helped it being alive. The project is based on the idea of a living unit that can coexist and work with various weather circumstances. The spatial knowledge of birds, who are already the sky and weather-dwellers, and human-bird relationships are reinterpreted. They built together The Nest in order to revive the old aviculture tradition. Birds’ technique of knitting is used to construct. Between tall piled columns, passes through the long-curved beams, and the spaces are knitted finer between this carrier constructin. The whole structure is shaped by the natural aspects. It declines in accordance with the water flow, allowing the rainwater to fill the pools under The Nest. Then it carries the water to the terrace and feeds the bird-attracting plants. It lets the wind pass through, preventing the activity areas from the breeze. As it flows down with the water, also reaches to the sky to touch the sun and the birds. The rain gives life to The Nest, The Nest to the birds, the birds to the explorers, and the explorers to the achieve. In the end, a rain-powered nest is fully constructed.
