How can a community space for earthquake victims with scarce resources be created?
After the 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquakes, many people moved into container settlements, where there was a big need for a school and community center. This project was created to meet that need, using the same containers with a new layout and a roof system. It now serves as both a school and a community space, with rooms for staff to stay on-site.

CONTAINER SETTLEMENT CONDITIONS
The current container settlements were a response to the urgent housing needs after the earthquake, but were not enough to meet social needs. Especially women and children face severe challenges, including psychological trauma, poor living conditions, and no access to education or communal spaces. Their struggle to rebuild lives in uncertainty highlights the immediate need for schools and community centers to provide support, resilience and ensure a sustainable recovery.
